Null Subject

2015-
archival pigment prints

In linguistic typology, a null-subject language is a language whose grammar permits an independent clause to lack an explicit subject; such a clause is then said to have a null subject.
The series focuses on neglected subjects and objects leaving the frame, turning the familiar into anonymous. Their existence is more palpable on the physical surface of the photograph rather than in the photographic space of the image itself. A reckless staple that goes through a face, a gaze interrupted at the edge of a frame, a torso wandering outside of the photograph. The focus is shifted to the peripheries of the frame, where the photograph as an object starts interacting with its surroundings.
